Welcome to my personal website! Please, get yourself comfy. My current name on the world wide web is Quimiperiodo (or Quimi for short), on the outside world I am a physical chemistry nerd (hence my name). I have created this website on August 2026 for two main reasons:
- First: I hate generative AI and algorithmic social networks. I'm not that old, but I through the birth of the first social networks and the decay of forums. Hence, I am fond of the old internet of forums and blogs that I have shortly lived. Nowadays, I feel like interacting nowadays on the web is detrimental to your wellbeing. Either you are talking with an AI speaking like a LinkedIn post or you are under a tsunami of posts the algorithm decided you would hate and, hence, stay and interact more on their web. I would like to have tools against the tech oligopoly, and I believe learning HTML is a good way at that!
- Second: I like the idea of having a place on the web where you can post freely on your likes and dislikes for others to read (or even answer back), but modern social networks are not fit for that in a web that is each minute less human and more AI burning through water and energy sources for interacting with other AIs.
Currently, I am working on the website (and learning about HTML, CSS and Javascript to make it as cool as possible!), but I plan to talk here about my favourite things:
- Videogames. The first game I have ever played was probably a educational PC game or some flash game, but the first "real" videogame was Mario Kart Wii. I have played several games since then, but I would like to try new genres and play older games that inspired games that I love
- Books. I have always liked reading since I was a child, but I have been reading very rarely lately due to my studies being very intensive and not having that much time. I hope to recover the habit of reading daily at least some chapters. I currently like sci-fi and fantasy.
- Anything-science. I'm also a big science-nerd, does not matter the science (although as a physical chemist I tend to deal more with hard sciences like physics or chemistry). There is always something new to learn..., but so little time!
